Stars is the sixth studio album by American singer-songwriter Janis Ian. Released three years after her previous album, this turned out to be her masterpiece, even though later albums were more successful. It is a stunning collection of songs, with beautiful melodies and fascinating lyrics. The highlights are the introspective 7 minutes title track, which was inspired by Don McLean's
Vincent, and the war inspired love song
Jessie, which had been a hit for Roberta Flack before this album was released. But I love the less known songs on this album as well.
