From the Choirgirl Hotel is the fourth studio album by American singer-songwriter Tori Amos. She went for a more contemporary sound, including a full band, electronics and samples, resulting in a denser soundscape than before, but one that works remarkably well. As one critic stated: "The songwriting is sleek and solid but bubbling with new sounds and rhythms." Although it does not contain her very, very best songs, the overall effect as an album is very impressive indeed. Some of the highlights are Spark, Black-Dove (January), i i e e e, Northern Lad, Playboy Mommy, and Pandora's Aquarium.
