Aladdin Sane is the sixth studio album by English singer-songwriter David Bowie. Ziggy Stardust was a tough act to follow, but the next album is a classic in its own right. Far more eclectic than its predecessor, the album sports two hit singles, including one of his finest, the futuristic take on doo-wop Drive-in Saturday. The title track, with a brilliant jazzy piano solo (improvised and recorded in one take) by Mike Garson, is a good example how far away we are from Ziggy's sound. The American influence that is clear in most of the album comes out best in the awesome rocker Panic In Detroit. Other personal favourites are the rock ballad Time and the campy glam cover of Let's Spend The Night Together. An album that was clearly ahead of its time.
