Tales from Topographic Oceans is the sixth studio album by English progressive rock band Yes. This double album, with four side-long epics, became notorious as the example of progressive rock excess, not just with the general pop/rock community, but even among prog enthusiasts - and that continues almost 50 years after its release. Personally, it took me quite a while to fully appreciate this work, and I think the key is to approach each of the four 20 minutes tracks as soundscapes rather than conventional (extended) songs. The Revealing Science Of God) is my favourite, but there's plenty to like in the others as well, especially Steve Howe's guitar work.
