The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place is the third studio album by American post-rock band Explosions in the Sky. The sound is influenced by the minimalist movement in classical music, and even the instrumentation is minimalist: two guitars, bass, and drums - no singing, no voice samples. It's stunning to hear how spell-binding this music is within those constraints. It is quite rightly widely recognized as one of the best albums in the post-rock genre. All five tracks, ranging from 8 to 10 minutes, are worthwhile, and this album really should be listened to completely for the best experience.
