Portishead is the second studio album by English electronic band Portishead. It is once more trip hop in the style of their successful debut album, but "darker, deeper and more disturbing" as one critic said. The many electronics, sampling and looping effects, combined with Beth Gibbons' electronically modified voice create a haunting gothic atmosphere indeed - while the excellent song writing prevents all of this to come over as just a gimmick. Special attention for Cowboys, Undenied, Humming, Seven Months, Only You, and Western Eyes.
