The Velvet Underground is the self-titled third studio album by American rock band the Velvet Underground. After a for me somewhat disappointing noisy second album, they returned to form with this beautiful blend of ballads and rockers. With the departure of John Cale from the band, Lou Reed became even more dominant - and to great effect. My favourite songs are the transsexual saga Candy Says, the beautiful love song Pale Blue Eyes, and the avant garde epic The Murder Mystery.
