Atom Heart Mother is the fifth studio album by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It received mixed reactions even though it was a commercial success, and I consider it a bit of a flawed masterpiece, but a masterpiece nonetheless. The same can be said for the side-long epic title track, put together in close cooperation with avant garde classical composer Ron Geesin, who scored contributions for orchestra and choir. Almost 24 minutes long, its material does wear thin in places, but there is also plenty to enjoy here. In sharp contrast, the flip side opens with three five minute fairly traditional songs of high quality, only to end with one of the weirdest experiments in their career.
