Damnation is the seventh studio album by Swedish progressive metal band Opeth. The album marked a radical switch in style: no death metal growls, really no metal whatsoever, what we have here is a great mellow prog album, influenced by Camel, Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree. The latter band's front man Steven Wilson contributed to and produced the album. Most reviewers were very positive about the album ("one of the best albums released in recent years"), and most prog enthusiasts (like me) consider it one of the very best in the Opeth discography. Stand-out tracks for me are Windowpane, Closure, Hope Leaves, the instrumental Ending Credits, and especially To Rid The Disease.
