Kenoticis the first studio album by American Postrock band Hammock.I got to know this band in 2022, and was impressed with the quality of their first seven studio albums, that were eventually included in my list of favourites in one big swoop early 2023. Their style has elements of Postrock, Ambient, Drones, and Shoegaze. Each album is a fascinating soundscape from beginning to end, and it does not make sense to select separate tracks for praise. Instead I just post the same text at each album, followed by one or more relevant quotes by reviewers. From the AllMusic review: "Expertly merging ambient guitar drone (think Bowery Electric), electronic beats (think Boards of Canada), and live instrumentation (the violin on "Blankets of Night"). Marc Byrd and Andrew Thompson craft a 70-minute sound sculpture, a paean to the beauty inherent in the drone."
