Pawn Hearts is the fourth studio album by English progressive rock band Van der Graaf Generator. The band released a string of strong albums in the period 1970-1976, but to my taste Pawn Hearts is the best. It is not always easy to appreciate the band's music, especially given the 'love it or hate it' voice of lead singer Peter Hamill, but once you persist, they make for fascinating listening. Three songs only, the first two over 10 minutes each, and the third taking a complete side on the original LP - and for me the best song in their repertoire.
