Turn of the Cards is the fifth studio album by the English progressive rock band Renaissance. Compared to its predecessor, Ashes are burning (link), their sound is a bit more into rock, but still falls clearly in prog territory. Singer Annie Haslam still sounds superb, both in the shorter songs and the epics that begin and end this album. There is a subtle classical music influence of French composer Jehan Alain in Running Hard, and a very unsubtle and superfluous one in Cold Is Being, which takes the melody of the Adagio at that time still ascribed to Albinoni.
